Organ donation is the removal of specific tissues of the human body from a person who has recently died, or from a living
donor, for the purpose of transplanting them into other persons.
Despite continuing advances in medicine and technology, the demand for organs dractically exceeds the number of organ
donors.
Each day, about 74 people receive on organ transplant. However, 17 people die each day waiting for transplants
that can't take place because of the shortage of donated organs.
